Avengers: Doomsday Theory Suggests Marvel Could End The Movie With Its Biggest Defeat Ever

A new rumor claims that Avengers: Doomsday could end with Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom sitting on a throne in Battleworld while wearing a white version of his armor.

The claim was shared online by James Mack (@JamesMackwl) on August 20, 2026, and was subsequently reported by outlets including ComicBasics and 9to5Marvel. According to 9to5Marvel, the information remains a rumor and has not been confirmed by Marvel Studios.

According to the report, the film’s final scene would show Doom victorious and seated on his Battleworld throne in white armor. The imagery is notable because the 2015 Secret Wars comic features Doom as the ruler of Battleworld in a white costume.

That comic connection makes the rumor easy to understand, but it does not confirm that this is actually how the movie ends. Marvel Studios has not officially verified the scene.

The Rumor: Doctor Doom Could End The Movie On The Throne

The central claim is fairly specific: Doctor Doom would win the conflict and appear seated on his throne in Battleworld, wearing white armor as the movie reaches its ending.

ComicBasics reported the same claim from James Mack, including the detail that Doom would be wearing white armor while sitting on his throne as the credits begin to roll. Fiction Horizon also reported the same alleged ending.

That is the part worth focusing on because it is considerably more specific than the usual fan theory about Doom eventually becoming the ruler of Battleworld.

It is still only a claim circulating online, though. There is no official Marvel confirmation that this scene was filmed or that it will remain in the final cut.

What Is Actually Confirmed?

Robert Downey Jr. is officially playing Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday, and the movie is scheduled to arrive in theaters on December 18, 2026.

The broader connection to Avengers: Secret Wars is also established. Doomsday is the first of the two upcoming Avengers movies, with Secret Wars following it as the next major chapter of the Multiverse Saga.

What has not been confirmed is the specific ending described in this rumor.

There is no official confirmation that Battleworld appears at the end of Doomsday. There is also no confirmation that Doom wins, sits on a throne, or wears white armor in the final scene.

That distinction matters because several much larger Doomsday plot leaks have been circulating online, and newer reporting has specifically warned readers to separate official information from unverified material.

Why The Battleworld Theory Makes Sense

The rumor is obviously borrowing from Secret Wars.

In Marvel’s 2015 Secret Wars storyline, Doctor Doom becomes the ruler of Battleworld after gaining enormous power and reshaping reality. His appearance during that storyline includes a predominantly white costume rather than the familiar green-and-silver look.

So the alleged image of Downey’s Doom sitting on a Battleworld throne in white armor would be instantly recognizable to comic readers.

That doesn’t make the rumor true. It simply explains why the claim fits so neatly with the direction many fans already expect Marvel to take before Secret Wars.

The White Armor Has A Very Specific Comic Connection

The white armor is probably the most interesting part of the rumor.

Doctor Doom’s traditional Marvel Comics design is dominated by green, silver and his iconic metal mask. The 2015 Secret Wars version is visually different, with white clothing associated with Doom’s position as the ruler of Battleworld.

ComicBasics specifically connected the rumored white armor to that version of Doom.

If the scene is real, Marvel could therefore be using the costume to visually signal Doom’s transformation into the ruler of a new reality.

But that is an interpretation of the imagery, not confirmation of what Marvel is doing with the character.

What About Steve Rogers And Bucky?

There is a separate rumor connected to the same source claiming that Doom will fight Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes together during the final battle.

9to5Marvel reported that second claim separately and noted that it is also unco
